Hi
I was scrolling through the ever-growing list of apps, plugins and modules and it came natural to me to try to calculate how much it will cost to use j2Commerce once we get past the current “all free” phase.
There are a few things I didn't understand, for example the difference between the Free and Pro versions, what are the extra features for which you don't have to buy plugins/apps/modules?
I read that with the Developer version you get support for 3 sites (“Support for 3 websites”), for the Pro is it for one site or none? It doesn't say.
Perhaps a detailed comparison table would be helpful. Also a changelog would be helpful, but maybe it is already there and I haven't found it.

As a user of J2Store Pro for many years, I am very happy that you are continuing its development, but I would like to understand what costs we are incurring because I see that so many features that I had hoped would be built into the Pro version (e.g., “Minimum Order Restriction,” “PDF Invoice,” “Bundle product”...) will require extra purchases.
Some of my clients have small ecommerce sites and have limited budgets to invest, I would like to be able to give them an idea of the costs they might face.
Thank you if you would clarify these aspects a bit.

Antonio,

Those are great questions (and concerns) and we are still in the process of finalizing the new price structure, but to give you a peak into where we are coming from:

  • The free version will still limit the same features in the j2commerce version as the old j2store free version did. Both versions will offer newer features and UI/UX improvements.
  • We want to make sure that longtime customers such as yourself are not going to have to worry about paying any more than you were already used to (even though much of the original pricing was set over a decade ago)
  • We aren't including those plugins you mentioned into the core extension as we are want to make sure the core component is streamlined and not loaded down with additional extensions that should be available for customers who need them.
  • Our overall philosphy in general is to build an ecommerce eco-system that makes it easy for Joomla users to launch a store with minimal (if any) coding experience as well as give developers the ability to customize it to fit their project needs.
  • We will be offering smaller monthly plans as well as yearly plans depending on personal preferences with the only two versions available (free and pro)
  • Pro versions will include licenses for 3 domains with minimal fees for additional domains while the apps will simply be one-time yearly renewals to keep things simple.
  • The idea is for developers like yourself that wish to control the licensing for the main component and bill their clients and allow their clients to pay for project related apps.

We are still working out the details and none of this is written in stone, but the goal is for customers to have the most versatile ecommerce system in Joomla for a very fair price.
