Scott,

Happy Holidays!

I have spent the past hour looking through old j2store extensions to for that one and haven't been able to find it yet. It was one of the older J2Store extensions but for some reason it has eluded me thus far. If you haven't heard back from me in the next week or so, please reach out again and we may need to rebuild it again. I can see value in that.

1. Yes - There WAS a way to do that.

2. If we can't find it, then there will be plans to develop it.

Scott,

I know it was available in the past, but we can't seem to find it so we have reached out to the previous team to see if they can find it on their end.

I have usually create article custom fields and then add them to the layout override like this example:
https://www.b-tek.com/products/platform-scales/bench-scales/aquashield-max-high-pressure-washdown-bench-scale-aquashieldmax-group

If you are comfortable with a little php/html in a safe layout override, I can help get you set up so you can add as many tabs as needed and customize to suit.

I am not sure the timeline for the custom tabs app as there are currently a a lot of other extensions that are in the queue. If they can send it over, I can quickly clean it up and make it available but if we have to build it from scratch, it wouldn't be something in the immediate future.

Scott,

I ended up building out something that seems to work with what your video was showing. Please test it out, but here is how to use it:
I emailed you two files, the extension and an override file that addes two items that make it possible for us to even do this.
The layout file will be included in the next sub release 4.0.11 so after that update, it will be included in all future releases automatically.

After installing the plugin:
Step 1: Create the 3 custom fields in Joomla:
If you have never created a custom field in Joomla, here are the instructions:

  • In the sidebar under Content > Field Groups : Create a new field group Product Fields
  • In the sidebar under Content > Fields: Create your first of 3 fields:
    1. Create a text type field title it Tab Title (or whatever you wish) with the following settings:
      1. Field Group : Product Fields
      2. Only Use in Subform: Yes
      3. Filter: Raw
      4. Under Options Tab - Automatic Display: Do not automatically display
      5. Write down the id#
    2. Create an editor type field title it Tab Content with the following settings:
      1. Field Group : Product Fields
      2. Only Use in Subform: Yes
      3. Buttons: Yes
      4. Filter: Safe HTML
      5. Under Options Tab - Automatic Display: Do not automatically display
      6. Write down the id#
    3. Create an subform type field title it Product Tabs with the following settings:
      1. Field Group : Product Fields
      2. Fields (Tab Title and Tab Content)
      3. Under Options Tab - Form Layout: Form
      4. Under Options Tab - Automatic Display: Do not automatically display
      5. Write down the id#
  • Under J2Store > Apps > Additional Tabs: Add the 3 ID #s you wrote down to into their respective fields in the app settings.

Once you have successfully completed the previous tasks - you won't need to do that again for this site.

Now when you visit one of the product pages that you wish to display additional tabs on, simple open the article page for that product and look for the new tab titled Product Fields and you can create as many tabs as you wish simply by clicking the plus button.
